Hey there, beautiful souls! It’s April Pullins, a.k.a The Cr8zy Sock Lady, and today I’m interrupting the regular program – my jam-packed schedule – to bring you a story about hitting the pause button and indulging in some much-needed self-care.
If you’ve been following my journey, you might recall my battles with depression and anxiety. It’s been a tough road, and today’s adventure at Spa Land in Duluth, GA, is a testament to my commitment to self-love, a commitment I may have neglected for a while.
So, rewind to October – the month I promised myself a spa day to celebrate my 46th birthday. Did it happen? Nope. And as I’m su-re you can guess, that’s a big no-no. It’s easy to forget to put ourselves first, especially when juggling the roles of mom, wife, and all-around superhero.
Now, I was supposed to run 8.2 miles this weekend. In the past, I might have beaten myself up over not sticking to my plan, but not today. Today, I’m soaking up the tranquility of nine saunas, lounging in a hot tub, chilling in an oxygen room, and treating my skin to a revitalizing body scrub. Oh, and did I mention the food? Word on the street is, it’s delicious.

In my latest blog post (link here — What’s with this sickness -🥺), I’ve shared some of my struggles with mental health. It’s a part of me, and while it doesn’t define me, it’s crucial to acknowledge and address. Today’s spa day is more than a luxurious break; it’s a deliberate step in honoring the commitment I made to myself.
I’ve got my Spa Land uniform on, my tablet handy for some work in blissful silence, and my to-do list – yes, even on a spa day. But the key here is balance, not overburdening myself, and simply enjoying this time for me.

Consider this my gentle nudge to you, my fellow superheroes – don’t wait for months to treat yourself. Don’t let everyone else take the front seat while you ride in the back. Moms, wives, or both – it’s so easy to fall into the trap of neglecting ourselves.
So, here’s the lesson: take a day for yourself, at least once a month. Heck, if you can swing it, once a week. You deserve it. I promise you’ll emerge better, stronger, and ready to conquer whatever life throws your way.
Sending you loads of love, rest, and a reminder to put yourself first sometimes,
